Children Story:Rani Hada’s tale of bravery

The fearless daughter of Hada Rajput, named Rani Hada was married to Rao Ratan Singh of Salumber, Mewar. Rao was mesmerized by the beauty of her wife and in his infatuation ignored his call of duty. In around 1653-1680 a battle was fought between Maharaja of Mewar and Aurangzeb. Being a part of the Rajput fraternity and helping to save their province, Maharana Raj Singh called Rao Ratan along with his army. When called by Maharana Raj Singh to join the battle against Aurangzeb, he sent his army but refused to come along because of his newly married wife. Rani Hada was disturbed due to his husband’s cowardly attitude and held herself and her beauty responsible for it.
Rani Hada had grown up hearing the tales of bravery of Rajput kings and queens and thus she finally convinced his husband to follow his ‘Kshatriya dharma’. Rao was finally prepared to leave for the battle and requested his wife to offer him a memento that reminds him of her.
Rani Hada requested her daasi to bring a box and sword and instructed her to handover the box to Rao ji. Daasi shouted in shock as Rani Hada chopped off her head with the sword. Abiding by the orders, she kept Rani Hada’s head in the box and ran to Rao ji.
Looking at her wife’s head Rao ji was broken and also proud of his brave Rani. She sacrificed her own self to make her husband follow his Rajputana dharma. Determined to pay homage to her wife’s sacrifice he bravely fought with the army of Aurangzeb and won over them. After winning over Aurangzeb he got on his keens and cut his neck because he had lost the desire to live anymore.
Even today the palace of Salumber has the statue of Rao Ratan Singh with Rani Hada’s head and she is remembered as an epitome of valour. Rani Hada was indeed a true Rajputani and kept her morals higher than anything else. Her sacrifice is immortal and will be remembered till time immemorial.
Lord Hanuman and Sun God

Lord Hanuman has been known for his devotion for Lord Rama but he is also remembered for his tales of mischievous activities. One such incident was when Hanuman, also called as Aanjaneya, son of Anjana was starving and he called his mother for feeding him. When he saw no sight of his mother, he went out to search his own food.
While searching for something edible, Hanuman ji noticed the Sun and thought it to be a huge red fruit. His hunger could not control anymore and he started moving towards the red ball of Sun. His determination remained unaffected by the scorching heat of the sun. When Lord Indra saw this sight, he became anxious that Hanuman ji can get burnt. In spite of several warning by Surya devta and Indra devta, hanuman ji was adamant to eat the big juicy fruit.
When Indra ji had no option left he hit Hanuman with his weapon, Vajrayudha. Hanuman immediately fell down and was hurt. The injury made his cheeks swollen and from then on Aanjaneya was called Hanuman, as ‘Hanu’ means cheek in Sanskrit.
Vayu devta saw the injured Hanuman and immediately carried him to patalaloka, the world below the grounds of the earth. As the wind god, left the earth, there was no air in the world. People, animals and trees struggled to breathe and started to die.
Finally all the other gods had to visit Lord Vayu for consoling him. Each god conferred a special power to the little Hanuman. Brahma, the Creator said, “No weapon will be able to kill this boy.” Indra said to the boy, “You will be a Chiranjeevi’ (immortal).”
Blessed thus by the gods, Hanuman grew up to be as strong as his father.
Hinduism Scientific Fact

Science behind touching feet of elders
Whenever we see someone pious or advanced in spirituality, it naturally comes in the heart of an Indian to touch their feet and take their blessings. This custom has been prevalent since centuries and marks the respect which we give to our elders or someone who is senior than is in the matter of understanding the spiritual aspect of the human life.
The science behind touching the feet of elder goes like this:
The nerves that start from our brain spread across all your body. These nerves or wires end in the fingertips of your hand and feet. When you join the fingertips of your hand to those of their opposite feet, a circuit is immediately formed and the energies of two bodies are connected. Your fingers and palms become the ‘receptor’ of energy and the feet of other person become the ‘giver’ of energy.
Usually, the person of whose feet you are touching is either old or pious. When they accept your respect which came from your reduced ego (shraddha) their hearts emit positive thoughts and energy (kripa) which reaches you through their hands and toes.
Their blessing creates an aura which helps us to get to the higher understandings and gives the recipient some share of the piety which the elder has earned.

Govardhan Puja

The fourth day of the five day long festivals, followed by Diwali is Govardhan Puja. This festival is another day of celebration holding special tribute to Lord Krishna by his devotees. There is a tradition of building cow dung hillocks, which symbolize the Mount Govardhan, the mountain which was once lifted by Lord Krishna. After making such hillocks people decorate them with flowers and then worship them. They move in a circle around the cow dung hillocks and offer prayers to Lord Govardhan.
Anna-Koot:
This day is also observed as Anna-Koot, which literally means ‘mountain of food’. On this auspicious day the people prepare fifty-six or one hundred and eight different varieties of delicious dishes to offer Lord Krishna as ‘Bhog’. In the temples the deities are given milk bath, dressed in new shining attires and decorated with ornaments. Then they are worshipped, offered prayers and bhajans and also offered delicious sweets, fruits and eatables that are ceremoniously raised in the form of a mountain before the idols.
Legend of the festival:
This festival signifies the victory of humility and nobleness of Lord Krishna over the ego of Lord Indra. Due to the strong pride of Lord Indra, he felt insulted when the devotees of Mathura adored Govardhan hill and the cows and bulls. He expressed his rage through heavy and violent rains. Soon lord Krishna came to rescue and he protected the villagers as well as the animals by lifting up the hill on his little finger. The love and faith of the people for Lord Krishna, made lord Indra realize his worth and he had to surrender his ego in the feet of Supreme God.
Significance:
This festival is a celebration of the love between the being and his supreme creation. Human beings express their gratitude by performing different rituals and also pray for their safety and blessings. It also express our love for the natural habitat and inspires the being to value and conserve the natural resources.
This day is also celebrated as Bali Pratipada or Bali Padva. It is celebrated in regards of the victory of Vamana (incarnation of the Lord Vishnu) over demon King Bali. It also marks the coronation of King Vikramaditya as ‘Vikaram-Samvat’ was started from this Padwa day.
